Brock University Sports Performance Analytics Group
At Brock University, me along with other students wanted to create a student-led group that talked and wrote about analytics.
To create baseball analytics-centric articles. Take part in and partipate in group meetings.
As a core member my responsibility is to help lay the foundation for the group.
For my first article, I wanted to take inspiration from a real event and support it with analytics.
Early in 2026 Spring Training, Walker Buehler voiced his displeasure with the ABS (Automatic Ball-Strike) system and said that veteran pitchers deserve more strike calls than inexperienced pitchers.
I scraped 1.8 million pitches from 2023-2025 to assess whether that statement held up true.
Attached is the article and it can also be found at Google Scholar.
Had the pleasure of attending this event at the University of Toronto as part of the SPA Group with other members.
